TREKKING AND WALKING

BORMIO AND THE SURROUNDING VALLEYS OFFER ITS GUESTS NUMEROUS ITINERARIES PERFECT FOR TREKKING AND SUMMER WALKS

The offer is complete and absolutely unique; made up of peaceful flat walks, ideal for families and children but also of demanding excursions, for real mountain experts. The certainty is always one: the breathtaking panorama by which you will be surrounded, a true paradise in which to lose and immerse yourself, where uncontaminated nature dominates, bestowing peace and serenity.

For a relaxing walk in the heart of Bormio, then, you can venture along the pedestrian and bicycle path, which makes a loop along the river and is interspersed with playgrounds and meadows in which to relax. Just before QC Terme Bagni Vecchi, then, the Reit footpath enters the forest and leads to Valfurva and the Croce della Reit. There are different routes of the Stelvio Pass which rise to high altitudes and are rich in remains and testimonies of the First World War; they are a very interesting proposal, not only from a landscape and naturalistic point of view, but also from a historical one.

The opportunities are numerous: from the Stelvio Pass you can head east, towards the glaciers of the Ortles-Cevedale Group, west, towards the peaks of Switzerland, or south, where the Braulio valley and the Rims ridge lead towards Bormio. However, we would now like to focus on what we think are the must-do routes during your holiday near the Stelvio National Park: these run along the SS38 and begin near the Stelvio Pass. Among the peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale Group, there are numerous reminders of the White War: we cannot fail to mention the Monte Scorluzzo area, where there are the remains of trenches, as well as artillery and front-line positions. Also noteworthy are Filon del Mot and Le Buse, two military villages that have been well preserved over time; they are therefore worth a visit!

Located in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, Bormio is surrounded by 600 kilometers of trails and itineraries for trekking and walking, and there is something for all levels and tastes. From Valle dei Forni to Val Viola, from the sapphire-colored lakes of Bormio 3000 and the dense larch forests of Oga to the wooden huts of Val Zebrù, the possibilities are almost endless!

The Stelvio National Park, therefore, is not only a real treasure from a landscape and naturalistic point of view; it is versatile, varied, offers routes suitable for everyone, and it is precisely this that makes it so special: let’s assume that Bormio and the area are always your holiday destination, we are certain that you will never find yourself on the same routes, you will have the chance to discover new and fascinating places every year!
